In my Mailbox #10

I have quite a lot to show you again for In my Mailbox again this week, but unfortunately, due to a lack of time today, I won't be doing a video to show you all - I will however still manage to do my post, so never fear!
I'll share my physical books with you first and then tell you a little about the eBooks I got this week.

Jonas, Arizona, and Summer by Eden Maguire

Please click the images to read the Amazon UK synopsis for each book.
These were recommended to me by a friend a while back, and I just didn't get around to picking up a copy until now. But I was browsing The Book People website earlier in the week and found the first 3 in a pack for £4.99, so naturally I leapt at them. I am quite looking forward to reading them, so I think the first one in the series may be another read for over the Christmas and New Year break.
Let me know in the comments if you've read these - I'd be really interested to hear what you think about them!

Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass
by Philip Pullman

Please click the images to read the Amazon UK synopsis for each book.
I'm a huge fan of Northern Lights, which I read for the last time in February 2010 (thank you to my reading journal there, for the date), but I haven't read since. I've been re-reading it again over the past couple of days because I'll be studying it at University tomorrow morning, and I wanted to refresh my memory. I went out and bought new copies of the entire series earlier in the week simply because my old copy of Northern Lights wasn't doing so well (it was falling apart), and plus, these covers are so beautiful - they're the new covers that were released after Northern Lights was a featured book in World Book Night at the beginning of the year.

Eve by Anna Carey

Again, you can click on the image to view the Amazon UK page or click here to view on The Book Depository.
I read the first chapter of this when it arrived yesterday and it does have me intrigued already, so it's looking promising. I saw it earlier in the week when it was reviewed on another book blog, and I decided to give it a go. I managed to get it really cheaply off Amazon UK (I think it was about £3.70, which is excellent considering the book is $10 in the US). I don't read too many books that are set in the future either, so I'm looking forward to a change of pace with this one.
The cover is also really beautiful, so it looks great with the rest of my collection!

The Taker by Alma Katsu
Please click on the image to view the Amazon UK page. Or if you are not in the UK, click here to view on the The Book Depository.
This has been on my wishlist for so long now, so I'm really glad to finally have bought it during the week. It sounds like a really interesting twist on the supernatural/paranormal genre - a mixture of the supernatural and historical fiction, it sounds really exciting, and another I'm really looking forward to! There isn't enough time in the world to read at the moment!

Family Magic by Patti Larsen
Again, you can click the image to view the Amazon UK Kindle page for this eBook, or you can click here to view the Smashwords page if your eReader is not a Kindle.
This is an eBook I spotted for a blog tour, but I wasn't in time to sign up for the tour. I decided to take part through someone else's blog though, and have bought the book from Smashwords so I can take part in the giveaway at the end of the end of the tour. This is obviously not the only reason I bought the book - it fits with my recent interest in Witches, which I now have a lot to read about. It's only 86p on Amazon UK, or $0.99 on Smashwords, so it's really cheap if you want to try it out too :)

The Legacy of Eden by Nelle Davy
Again, clicking the image will take you to the Amazon UK page, where you can pre-order the book (which is released on January 31st 2012). If you're not in the UK, you can click here to pre-order from The Book Depository.
This is the first book I got accepted on NetGalley this week, which I'm really looking forward to - it looks like a really interesting read. Fingers crossed I'll be able to fit a review for this one in before it's released in January.

New Girl by Paige Harbison
Again, click the image to pre-order from Amazon UK or read the synopsis, and if you're not in the UK, click here to view on The Book Depository.
This is the second review copy I had accepted from NetGalley this week, and another that looks really interesting! I think I'm looking forward to this one a little more than
The Legacy of Eden simply because I do like the books I read to have a small element of romance. But I'm looking forward to both, so I'm keeping fingers crossed that I'll have time for both before they're published.

What books did you get in your mailbox this week? Let me know in the comments below :)

Oh I love those covers for His Dark Materials - great find! I've got the original covers and I'm pretty attached to them because they are made of a kind of paper you can fold right back and the spine doesn't crack. I've also have Eve on my wishlist for quite some time now but I can't decide if I should read it so I's love to know what you think.

Brilliant selection again! Some of those covers are excellent. I'm tying to do my own covers for publication next yr but it's not easy! I am untrained however - expect it's easy if you know how :D You must read really fast to great through all these. It amazes me the difference between people in reading speed. Friend of mine reads six books a week? A d does a full-time job?

Happy reading. :D
