The Raven Boys
by Maggie Stiefvater

Goodreads synopsis:
“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

From Maggie Stiefvater, the bestselling and acclaimed author of the Shiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races, comes a spellbinding new series where the inevitability of death and the nature of love lead us to a place we’ve never been before.

I'm yet to read anything by this author, despite owning five books by her (two from the Wolves of Mercy Falls series, two from the Books of the Faerie series, and The Scorpio Races - all of which I picked up cheap, or was given). I've not picked them up yet because I keep hearing really mixed reviews, and other books seem to come higher up on my to-read list than these.
But I've heard some really great things about The Raven Boys - especially from a couple of reviewers over the past fortnight or so - so I'm really interested in this one at the moment. I might give one of the books I already have a go, and if I like it, then I'll get this one off the wishlist and onto my shelves!

Have you read The Raven Boys? Or anything else by Maggie Stiefvater? What did you think? Let me know in the comments :)

I enjoyed the Raven Boys :) Sometimes it got a bit confusing, but I can't wait to check out the sequel!

I think I've actually read all of Maggie Stiefvater's books at this point. I'd put The Scorpio Races at the top of the list -- beautiful writing, a really unique premise and lovely setting. The wolves trilogy was pretty special as well, although I'm not sure I liked how it wrapped up. Didn't care for the fairy books, and I didn't like The Raven Boys -- although I know I've seen a lot of reviews from people who love this one. Still, I'd probably recommend starting with the 1st wolf book or The Scorpio Races to get a good taste of her writing. Enjoy!

I am not a big fan of the Wolves of Mercy Falls so reluctant to pick up other books by Maggie Stiefvater. Still a lot of people say this is her best book. Hope you get to read it soon :)

I tried reading The Scorpio Races once and just really didn't like it so put it down after a few chapters. But I must admit in the past few weeks I've been intrigued by this book. Maybe if I see it cheap for kindle or in a shop I'll pick it up!

I actually have this one sitting on my shelf unread. I really want to read something by this author, but just haven't yet. I'll probably start with her Wolves of Mercy Falls series.

Good choice! My sister got me a signed hardcover of this book for Christmas but I haven't gotten to read it yet. I have heard some pretty good things though.

I thought the first book in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy different from the normal paranormal fare on shelves today and really enjoyed it. The other two books are on my wish list. :-) And so until Maggie Stiefvater disappoints me, I'm up to reading anything by her.
