Night Beach by Kirsty Eagar
Imagine there is
someone you like so much that just thinking about them leaves you
desperate and reckless. You crave them in a way that's not rational, not
right, and you're becoming somebody you don't recognise, and certainly
don't respect, but you don't even care.
And this person you like is unattainable. Except for one thing...
He lives downstairs.
Abbie has three obsessions. Art. The ocean. And Kane.
But since Kane's been back, he's changed. There's a darkness shadowing him that only Abbie can see. And it wants her in its world.
A gothic story about the very dark things that feed the creative process.

I saw this one on NetGalley, but being from Penguin Australia, they were only accepting Australian reviewers and booksellers, and as I am from the UK (although I did try my luck), I was denied access to the galley. I have wanted to read Kirsty Eagar's books before now, but they are notoriously difficult to get hold of in the UK (even as a bookseller, and even with the publisher being Penguin) - it's extremely irritating. This is one that is really going to bother me if I can't get hold of it though! The others I can get over not having, but this one looks amazing - I need to have it.
So if there are any generous-feeling Australians out there, remember: today is my 21st birthday ;)

Happy B'day! Though I'm not in Australia and can't gift it to you, hope someone does. Have fun, gal! :)
Happy birthday darling! Hm.. this is look so dark and intriguing. Hope you get to read it soon. :)
Happy Birthday, girl! 21 is an amazing year to be. Take it from me. I'm still 21 (going on 22), so, I know :)
As for Night Beach, I desperately want that book, too. But alas, I'm no Aussie :/
Happy Birthday! I wish you that you will have all the books you need this year, LOL. :)

Wow, this really does sound like a super great read! I don't blame you on this one! I really do hope you're able to get it soon!
Happy Birthday to you! Enjoy it to the fullest :)
Happy Birthday to you! Wish you all the best (books) in your life =D
I've seen the cover, but haven't read the summary until now. Wow, sounds very intriguing and interesting! I hope you can get this book soon =)
Thank you for the birthday wishes everyone :) I'm having a really great day. I have a brand new bookcase (my second, as my ottoman bed is full and all the drawers and crates are overflowing!).
I still need to fix it to the wall, so it's still empty at the moment - hopefully I'll be filling it up tomorrow :) And then I'll take photos!
I also got an Ian Somerhalder biography from my boyfriend (meant as a funny present) and a book of Oscar Wilde quotes called 'I Can Resist Everything Except Temptation' which is beautiful, from my brother :)
All the Wishlist Wednesday posts in the linky are great this week, by the way!
Dani :)
Happy Birthday, Dani! :) Hope this year treats you well!
