Quote of the Week #13

First of all, I'd like to apologise for the lack of a Quote of the Week last week - it was a particularly busy day, and I didn't manage to find time unfortunately. But to make up for it, I have an especially perfect quote for this week!
This quote is one I found while at work. At Waterstone's at the moment we are running a stamp card scheme (for every £10 spent, you get a stamp, and when you've collected all 10 you receive a free £10 gift card), and on the stamp card, this quote is printed:

-- George Robert Gissing

I have to admit, I am a 'book sniffer' - the smell of new books is definitely one of my favourite smells!
Are you a book sniffer? Do you prefer the smell of new or old books? Let me know in the comments!

As someone with a large collection of used books, I definitely prefer that new book smell. The old books are nice in that I don't have to worry about damaging the covers, but those new books.... there's nothing quite like it! If I won the lottery this week, you can bet I'd replace all my used books with new.

You know... I would have said no. But recently I took a break from my Kindle to read an actual paper-back!! The only reason for this is that I have two series I started in paper and want to get the whole collection: Vampire Diaries and True Blood. I'm now reading the paper-back version of the latest True Blood and LOVE the smell of it! I actually rad a few chapters today on a flight and enjoyed the forgotten process of reading an actual book. It's been a year (other than the odd text book, which isn't the same). Great quote!

I love the smell of books, new or old, in fact I even loved how those new school books used to smell ... despite the fact that I hated school I was crazy about the books *lol*.
