Wishlist Wednesday #6

Wishlist Wednesday is a book blog hop where we will post about one book per week that has been on our wishlist for some time, or just added (it's entirely up to you), that we can't wait to get off the wishlist and onto our wonderful shelves.

So what do you need to do to join in?
  • Follow Pen to Paper as host of the meme.
  • Please consider adding the blog hop button to your blog somewhere, so others can find it easily and join in too! Help spread the word! The code will be at the bottom of the post under the linky.
  • Pick a book from your wishlist that you are dying to get to put on your shelves.
  • Do a post telling your readers about the book and why it's on your wishlist.
  • Add your blog to the linky at the bottom of this post.
  • Put a link back to pen to paper (http://vogue-pentopaper.blogspot.com) somewhere in your post.
  • Visit the other blogs and enjoy!

The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
Goodreads synopsis:

The day Louisiana teenager Rory Deveaux arrives in London marks a memorable occasion. For Rory, it's the start of a new life at a London boarding school. But for many, this will be remembered as the day a series of brutal murders broke out across the city, gruesome crimes mimicking the horrific Jack the Ripper events of more than a century ago.

Soon “Rippermania” takes hold of modern-day London, and the police are left with few leads and no witnesses. Except one. Rory spotted the man police believe to be the prime suspect. But she is the only one who saw him. Even her room-mate, who was walking with her at the time, didn't notice the mysterious man. So why can only Rory see him? And more urgently, why has Rory become his next target? In this edge-of-your-seat thriller, full of suspense, humour, and romance, Rory will learn the truth about the secret ghost police of London and discover her own shocking abilities.

This one has me really intrigued. It's been on my wishlist since a couple of weeks before it was released in the UK, but although I am interested in it, there isn't enough room on my shelves for it at the moment (and I would just get it on Kindle, but the cover is really nice on this one).
I'm particularly interested in this novel because it sounds like a really intriguing blend of mystery/crime and the supernatural, something that has become increasingly popular on my shelves, starting back with the Sookie Stackhouse and Harper Connelly novels by Charlaine Harris, who for those who don't know already, is my favourite author.
I may just pop this one on the Christmas list!

I agree...love the idea of a book that can merge a few genres together...mystery, paranormal and romance...sounds like a good mix!

Fun linky party! Thanks for hosting! Your wish book sounds good-- I'm wondering why only Rory can see the suspect too

My blog's post is linked at #4-- my newest co-blogger wrote it and is still learning the ways of the meme, so I linked it for her.

:o)

ooooooh I wanna read this one! But I'm on a book buying ban.. which I just broke yesterday. :(

Oh dear Toni! I don't think I'd be able to see a book-buying ban through - I'm always getting more, even though I know I don't have any more room!
