Wishlist Wednesday #80

Wishlist Wednesday is a book blog hop where we will post about one book per week that has been on our wishlist for some time, or just added (it's entirely up to you), that we can't wait to get off the wishlist and onto our wonderful shelves.

So what do you need to do to join in?
  • Follow Pen to Paper as host of the meme.
  • Please consider adding the blog hop button to your blog somewhere, so others can find it easily and join in too! Help spread the word! The code will be at the bottom of the post under the linky.
  • Pick a book from your wishlist that you are dying to get to put on your shelves.
  • Do a post telling your readers about the book and why it's on your wishlist.
  • Add your blog to the linky at the bottom of this post.
  • Put a link back to pen to paper (http://www.pentopaperblog.com) somewhere in your post, and a note saying that Pen to Paper is the host of the meme.
  • Visit the other blogs and enjoy!

Beauty Queens
by Libba Bray

Goodreads synopsis:
The fifty contestants in the Miss Teen Dream pageant thought this was going to be a fun trip to the beach, where they could parade in their state-appropriate costumes and compete in front of the cameras. But sadly, their airplane had another idea, crashing on a desert island and leaving the survivors stranded with little food, little water, and practically no eyeliner.

What's a beauty queen to do? Continue to practice for the talent portion of the program - or wrestle snakes to the ground? Get a perfect tan - or learn to run wild? And what should happen when the sexy pirates show up?

Welcome to the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Your tour guide? None other than Libba Bray, the hilarious, sensational, Printz Award-winning author of A Great and Terrible Beauty and Going Bovine. The result is a novel that will make you laugh, make you think, and make you never see beauty the same way again.

I haven't known whether or not to add this one to my wishlist until now. I keep hearing such wonderful things about it, but something had always been putting me off adding it to my list. However, this week I seem to be bumping into even more brilliant reviews of it - on blogs, Goodreads and YouTube - it seems to be following me around, and so I've finally given in. The more I hear about it, the more intrigued I am to find out what I think for myself. And so on the wishlist it goes!
If you've read Beauty Queens, I would definitely like to hear what you thought of it :)

What's on your wishlist this week? Let us know in the comments below, or link to your own Wishlist Wednesday post in the Linky :)

I have actually started reading this but got bored very soon so I don't think I will pick it up again. Still, I heard great things about it and you might like it :)

I loved Beauty Queens! I read it on vacation a couple of years ago, and I laughed all the way through it. I suppose it depends on your sense of humor, but I thought it was terrific. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this book. I'm pretty sure this was the first book that actually made me laugh out loud. It is like you are watching a TV show. There are commercials and everything. Hope you get to read it soon!

This wouldn't be my usual pick but it sounds hilarious. I think I will definitely have to check it out as I'm laughing picturing beauty queens trying to survive in the mud. It sounds alot of fun and really interesting! I bought The Diviners by Libba Bray the other day so hopefully I'll like her as an author and give this one a go. I also really like the cover! Great choice :)
