Wishlist Wednesday #50

Wishlist Wednesday is a book blog hop where we will post about one book per week that has been on our wishlist for some time, or just added (it's entirely up to you), that we can't wait to get off the wishlist and onto our wonderful shelves.

So what do you need to do to join in?
  • Follow Pen to Paper as host of the meme.
  • Please consider adding the blog hop button to your blog somewhere, so others can find it easily and join in too! Help spread the word! The code will be at the bottom of the post under the linky.
  • Pick a book from your wishlist that you are dying to get to put on your shelves.
  • Do a post telling your readers about the book and why it's on your wishlist.
  • Add your blog to the linky at the bottom of this post.
  • Put a link back to pen to paper (http://vogue-pentopaper.blogspot.com) somewhere in your post.
  • Visit the other blogs and enjoy!

Amy and Roger's Epic Detour
by Morgan Matson

Goodreads synopsis:
Amy Curry thinks her life sucks. Her mom decides to move from California to Connecticut to start anew--just in time for Amy's senior year. Her dad recently died in a car accident. So Amy embarks on a road trip to escape from it all, driving cross-country from the home she's always known toward her new life. Joining Amy on the road trip is Roger, the son of Amy's mother's old friend. Amy hasn't seen him in years, and she is less than thrilled to be driving across the country with a guy she barely knows. So she's surprised to find that she is developing a crush on him. At the same time, she's coming to terms with her father's death and how to put her own life back together after the accident. Told in traditional narrative as well as scraps from the road--diner napkins, motel receipts, postcards--this is the story of one girl's journey to find herself.

I think I'm seriously starting to become a little obsessed with road trip novels. Ever since I read Saving June by Hannah Harrington, earlier this summer, and ended up adoring it as much as I did, I've been searching for more road trip novels, that would make me feel like this one did. I've found very few that have been as highly rated as this one.
Out of nearly 10,500 ratings on Goodreads, it has scored an average of 4.12 (that's what it's at right now, anyway), which is pretty damn impressive.
So I have faith that this book is going to be a good one, and it definitely sounds like one that I'd end up loving. I definitely plan on adding it to my shelves at some point in the very near future!

Nice wishlist. I don't normally read this genre, but I'm going to put this one of my list.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to this genre of novels but I have been eyeing this one. I still haven't made up my mind to actually get it or not.

I'm not really into contemporary books but I would personally love to go on a road trip! Anywhere possibly but across America would be pretty cool! Hope you get it soon :)

Oh my Dani, I can't believe you haven't read this book. It is amazing! I love road-trip books (do you know good ones?) and I adored this one. The characters are incredibly well painted (okay, written) and I was able to see everything before my inner eye. Posted a review on my blog if you wanna go check it out. You can find it under the list of reviews header.
Hope you'll read it soon. :)

I can't stress how much you need to buy this book! I won a copy about a month ago an i read it in a day. I loved it! The story to the little details such as the receipts from diners makes it such a good read! :)
Having read your review of Saving June it is now on the top of my wishlist! It sounds beaut! :)
