Wishlist Wednesday #49

Wishlist Wednesday is a book blog hop where we will post about one book per week that has been on our wishlist for some time, or just added (it's entirely up to you), that we can't wait to get off the wishlist and onto our wonderful shelves.

So what do you need to do to join in?
  • Follow Pen to Paper as host of the meme.
  • Please consider adding the blog hop button to your blog somewhere, so others can find it easily and join in too! Help spread the word! The code will be at the bottom of the post under the linky.
  • Pick a book from your wishlist that you are dying to get to put on your shelves.
  • Do a post telling your readers about the book and why it's on your wishlist.
  • Add your blog to the linky at the bottom of this post.
  • Put a link back to pen to paper (http://vogue-pentopaper.blogspot.com) somewhere in your post.
  • Visit the other blogs and enjoy!

Something Like Normal
by Trish Doller

Goodreads synopsis:
When Travis returns home from a stint in Afghanistan, his parents are splitting up, his brother’s stolen his girlfriend and his car, and he’s haunted by nightmares of his best friend’s death. It’s not until Travis runs into Harper, a girl he’s had a rocky relationship with since middle school, that life actually starts looking up. And as he and Harper see more of each other, he begins to pick his way through the minefield of family problems and post-traumatic stress to the possibility of a life that might resemble normal again. Travis’s dry sense of humor, and incredible sense of honor, make him an irresistible and eminently lovable hero.

I am seriously getting into my YA contemporary at the moment, and I really didn't expect that to be happening any time soon. At the beginning of this year, I really was a fantasy/sci-fi reader - I do have tastes outside of these genres, but contemporary did not usually feature in this much, and they were certainly not among my favourite books.
2012 has been the year to change this, though, with Saving June by Hannah Harrington, New Girl by Paige Harbison and Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry, being among my top favourites of the year so far!
So now, to me, this sounds like exactly the kind of book I want to be reading right this moment. I will definitely be getting my hands on this very, very soon!

I did not read much YA contemporary but I certainly enjoyed Pushing the Limits. :)

Yeah, I tend to stick more with Paranormal Romance. But have been known to step outside my realm of normalcy.
