Showcase Sunday #7

Showcase Sunday is a new weekly meme hosted by the wonderful Vicky at Books, Biscuits & Tea, where we will show off the books and eBooks we received each week.

So, I'm actually not feeling very good today, so even though I did get enough of a pile to show you on a video, I'm not going to, because I'm just not feeling up to sitting in front of the camera today (sorry!).
But I will show you photos of the books I got, and talk about them a little bit!

Physical books: For Review

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor: This is the first of my review books that I got from work. I actually do already have a copy of this one, but it's a signed, limited edition (number 181 of 1500) first edition UK hardback, and I absolutely adore it. I know hardbacks are much more durable, but they still get dented etc, if you carry them around in a bag, so I was really glad to receive this one to read from work. It means I can read it without worrying about getting it damaged.

Cracks by Caroline Green: This is the other review book that was put aside for me at work this week. I had actually heard a little bit about it before, and it was on my wishlist, so it was good that it was one of the books that randomly turned up this week. I am actually nearly done with this one now - I think I have about 40 pages left, so I will be reviewing this in the next couple of days.

Dreams by Daniela Sacerdoti: This was also a complete surprise this week. The publishers got hold of me on Twitter and asked me if I would be interested in reviewing it, and I leapt at the chance. I actually received a chapter sampler for it, that Laura from Sister Spooky sent me with my ARC of The Peculiars by Maureen Doyle McQuerry, and I really liked the look of it, so added it to my wishlist. So yeah, obviously I said yes to the publishers, and my copy arrived on Friday. I'm really looking forward to reading this one - it looks amazing! So, a huge thank you to Black & White Publishing for this one!

Physical books: Bought

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher: Earlier in the week, I finished The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler, and I really, really loved it, so I decided that I was going to let myself pick this one up from work. It looks just as good as The Future of Us - the written style seems just as fluent etc - so I'm hoping it will live up to expectations.

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick: I've had this one pre-ordered for SO long now, and I was really looking forward to getting it, and on Friday, it did finally arrive. I just can't find the right words to describe just how excited I am about this book - it just looks like the perfect summer read. I'm also really enjoying YA contemporary fiction at the moment. AND just look at that cover! Doesn't it just scream 'Perfect Summer Read' at you?! I'm definitely excited. I think this is going to be one of the books I take to London with me when I go to do my work experience.

Grave Sight [Graphic Novel]: Vol. 1 by Charlaine Harris et al: I had been meaning to get hold of and try a graphic novel for so long, but I just didn't know where to start. I used to love Manga when I was a lot younger, but I know Graphic Novels can be really different, and I wasn't sure if any of it would still be my kind of thing, so I went with the safe option - an author and a story that I was already familiar with. I have actually already read this one, and you can read my review of it HERE.

Seven Wonders by Adam Christopher: This one is a review eBook that I got from Angry Robot's reviewer website, Angry Robot Army. It looks really cool - it's basically about superheroes, and who doesn't love that?! It isn't out until August, so I probably won't be doing a review until the beginning of that month, but I can't wait to get stuck in, all the same!

Dodge the Bullet by Christy Hayes: This one was a free download from Amazon UK. I'm not entirely sure why I went for it, but I think it looks like a fairly good read, and it was free, so it doesn't really matter either way... if I don't like it, I haven't lost out on anything! It looks like it might have a strong female protagonist, and an interesting romance, so maybe it'll be something I'll enjoy!

So, that's all for my Showcase Sunday this week. I'm going to be attempting to cut down on the amount of books I get from now on, so I may not be doing a video Showcase Sunday for a while... but we shall see :P
I may end up doing this haul as a separate video when I'm feeling a little better, because I know there are people that only subscribe on Youtube, so if I do, I'll link to that below this post, so you can go and check it out too.
Also, let me know what books you got this week in the comments below - my wishlist could always do with some bulking out ;PHappy reading!

I still haven't read Daughter of Smoke and Bone either, I really need to do that, I have an arc copy, so not sure what's stopping me, other than an extremely large TBR pile..

Great books this week, I hope you enjoy them all and feel better soon!!

Happy reading!
