The Big Over Easy by Jasper Fforde
Goodreads synopsis:
Jasper Fforde does it again with a dazzling new series starring Inspector Jack Spratt, head of the Nursery Crime Division.

Jasper Fforde’s bestselling Thursday Next series has delighted readers of every genre with its literary derring-do and brilliant flights of fancy. In The Big Over Easy, Fforde takes a break from classic literature and tumbles into the seedy underbelly of nursery crime. Meet Inspector Jack Spratt, family man and head of the Nursery Crime Division. He’s investigating the murder of ovoid D-class nursery celebrity Humpty Dumpty, found shattered to death beneath a wall in a shabby area of town. Yes, the big egg is down, and all those brittle pieces sitting in the morgue point to foul play.

I read The Eyre Affair about 8 years ago (or something like that), when I was only about 12 or 13, and I read Shades of Grey in 2009 and absolutely adored both, but for some reason, these are the only two of Jasper Fforde's novels I've read so far! I can't believe it's taken me so long. Anyway, The Big Over Easy, is the first in the Nursery Crimes series, and is apparently one of his best, even if I'm not sure how it could possibly beat Shades of Grey! I think what puts me off from reading it, is the tiny print in the paperback copy, and the eBook versions on Kindle are really expensive! I've said this before about text size in print copies - the smaller the text, the more put-off I am from reading it - even if it's an author I love, like Jasper!
I will however read this one very soon - it is on my list for the 2012 TBR Reading Challenge, so next year shall be its year!
