The Sealed Letter was first published in 2008, but until the phenomenal success of Emma's 2010 novel, Room, her other novels had not been taken much into the public eye. However, following Room's success (the novel was longlisted for the Orange prize in 2011, shortlisted for the Man Booker prize, the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize and the Governor General's Prize in 2010, and it won the 2011 Commonwealth Writers' Prize), her other novels, particularly Slammerkin and The Sealed Letter have been picked up by publishers again.
